About the Journal

The main objectives of the Boletín Chileno de Herpetología (BCH) are to publish and disseminate knowledge on different aspects of the biology of reptiles and amphibians of Chile and South America. The articles and notes that we publish should contribute to our understanding of the behavior, natural history, ecology, distribution, anatomy, evolution, systematics, taxonomy or conservation of the herpetofauna of the region. We also accept detailed reviews on the knowledge to date of some topic related to South American herpetology, such as species lists or bibliographic reviews.

Our article section is mainly reserved for contributions from trained scientists where they present the results of their research. However, much valuable knowledge is also generated by amateur naturalists, and that is why we have the Naturalist Notes section, where in a concise, direct and simple way, the authors can present a novel observation of the natural history of a species, supported with photographic material.

The target audience of the BCH is mostly professionals and amateurs related to the study of reptiles and amphibians of South America, whether they are university academics or research centers, consultants, teachers, veterinarians or naturalists.
