Abstract

In the last two decades India has become an emerging power, and has been concerned with the development of its international image and the role it can play; but not much is known about regional India. That is why this research aims at describing the role of India as an emerging power in South Asia, in its political, economic and cultural dimensions. To achieve this, three points will be examined: first, India´s military and political role through its conflict with Pakistan and the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan; secondly, India´s role in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, and finally, Hinduism and its importance in Asia.
