Publication Policies

Saberes Educativos is an open access scientific journal, peer-reviewed by double-blind peer review, published every six months. The reception of contributions follows the open window model, being possible to submit papers throughout the year, through the journal's website or by mail to sabereseducativos@uchile.cl. The journal does not charge processing or submission fees.

In terms of editorial ethics, Saberes Educativos Journal is governed by standards inspired by the norms published by COPE (Committee of Publication Ethics). To detect similarities, the journal uses Turnitin software.

Articles will be received throughout the year, with priority being given to those submitted in response to a thematic call made by the journal. All texts should be sent to the journal's platform and, exceptionally, to sabereseducativos@uchile.cl.

The papers submitted must be unpublished (not previously published) and must not be in the process of evaluation for another journal and/or other media for publication.

Peer review process

  1. Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's web platform (“Article Submission” option) or by e-mail to sabereseducativos@uchile.cl.
  2. Once received, the manuscript is reviewed by the Editor to verify that it conforms to the editorial focus of the journal, being subsequently analyzed by the Turnitin integrity program.
  3. If the manuscript passes this first review, it passes to the next stage. If not, it is rejected. This result is communicated to the authors.
  4. The manuscript is sent for review by a peer reviewer, under the double-blind modality. The following evaluation criteria will be considered:
  • The research problem or analysis is presented in a contextualized way, theoretically and/or empirically.
  • The importance of the problem addressed by the article is clearly described, giving an account of the knowledge gap to which it seeks to contribute.
  • The literature review is pertinent and adequate to address the problem defined in the article.
  • The research/analysis methodology is clearly and concisely presented.
  • The methodology developed is pertinent to address the research/analysis problem.
  • The defined methodology is rigorously applied.
  • The results are presented in a clear and concise manner, emphasizing the findings or contributions of the analysis performed.
  • The conclusions are clear and coherent with the results of the analysis.
  • In summary, the article succeeds in answering the research/analysis question in a structured and coherent manner.
  • The subject matter of the article is pertinent to the focus and thematic lines of the Journal.
  • The text is presented with clear writing and with adequate use of grammatical rules.
  1. The manuscript can be accepted without modifications, accepted with minor modifications, accepted with major modifications or rejected. Based on the result of the peer review, the Editor communicates the editorial decision to the authors.
  2. If accepted, the manuscript is sent to the authors so that they can incorporate the observations made in the peer review.
  3. The authors incorporate the required modifications and resubmit the article.
  4. The editorial team reviews the adjustments and may eventually suggest new correction needs to the authors.
  5. Once the editorial team receives the final version of the manuscript, it undergoes style and layout editing.
  6. The pre-print resulting from the previous step is sent to the authors for validation.
  7. After validation, the article is published.
