Abstract

Title: The writing blockages in the elaboration of the doctoral theses Summary Objective: This case study approaches the comprehension of writing mental blocks experienced by doctoral students within the elaboration of their theses. Method: Seven thesis candidates for a Venezuelan PhD were interviewed about their mental blocks. Results: The thesis candidates exhibit a lack of cognitive abilities for academic writing which affects behavioral aspects such as anxiety and deferment of the work. Conclusions: It is determining to provide the student with assessment and accompaniment in order to successfully finalize his thesis.
