Abstract

The different capacity shown by the newly industrialized countries of Asia (NICs) and Latin America to adapt to structural changes in the world system has led to an examination of the development processes of Southeast Asia and their way of insertion in the global economy, considering the viability of these models and the experiences of their application, from the point of view of the interest of Latin America, and particularly Argentina. In this paper, we make an introductory comment on the subject and advance some conclusions that emerge from the comparative analysis of the experiences of Latin America and the Asian NICs, which may be useful for the formulation and evaluation of the viability of new models of external insertion for Argentina and the region.
