Abstract

This article investigates the gender relations experienced between highly educated couples in Belo Horizonte (MG) and the satisfaction of each partner with the experienced situation, identifying possible tensions and inequalities in these perceptions. For this we used data from interviews carried out with 31 couples, with none, one or two children; where women had higher level of education than men in Belo Horizonte in 2013. It was possible to notice that even with these women that are very educated they continued to be more responsible and accountable for their partners by child care and housework. In addition, for those who experienced more gender equity relations, there was a sense of guilt, indicating a persistence of traditional and unequal values in the context of married life. Again, the gender revolution, even for a vanguard group of the second demographic transition, remains incomplete.
