This article corresponds to a systematization of the research results of the perceptions of political and social actors on the effects on gender equality of the first application of electoral quotas in Chile. A balance of the application in other Latin American countries is presented to identify its impacts. The results showed that achieving a parity democracy requires women and men committed to overcoming gender imbalances in society.
